CYP Youth Leagues
In 2010 85% of Club Members participated in Cambridge Youth Programs Sports leagues. Youth participate in a rotating, seasonal schedule of sports, including handball, soccer and basketball while traveling to Cambridge based youth programs. MORE>

     

Dance

Dance provides a space for members to use self expression while becoming culturally aware through movement.

Exergaming

Exergaming uses technology-based interactive activities (including video games) in order to increase physical activity levels in children. Playing video games that require a physical element -- allows youth who may not otherwise participate in physical activity find a way to be active. BGCMC uses exergaming to meet a growing need and commitment to our communities and Members to create healthy productive citizens.

Gymcraftics

Gymcraftics, a program that uses gymnastics, dance and core stabilization to teach confidence, goal setting and methods to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Project Joy

Clubhouse staff were trained by the Project Joy staff to strengthen and heal Club members through play. Project Joy’s programs use a combination of exuberant physical games, story telling, yoga, and movement.

New Cell

Project Strong

Project Strong is a gender specific fitness program for males lead by BGC staff and non-commissioned officers in the United States military. Designed to teach leadership, discipline and citizenship through fitness, participants learn how to create and maintain a fitness regimen that aligns with their needs.

Running Club

This summer marked the beginning of the Somerville Running Club. A National Award Winning Program, created at the Gene Mack Clubhouse Unit of the BGCMC. Somerville youth experience exercise in a safe, positive environment.

Triple Play

The goal of the Triple Play program is to improve Club members’ knowledge of healthy habits, increase the number of hours per day they participate in physical activities, and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in positive relationships. Fitness and sports programming provides opportunties for all youth – boys and girls, athletically gifted and those talented in other areas, children and teens alike.

Yoga

Through participation in Yoga, members developed strong, limber and healthy bodies, found a venue for creative expression, increased focus, concentration and attention span.

Wanna Play

Created by Major League Baseball and BGCA the program is designed to improve youths’ overall fitness through physical activity and improved nutrition education while learning the fundamental skills of baseball and softball through fun and enriching activities.
