Everett Teen Member Shares Story at State House

 Uncategorized

The Everett Teen Club has created an environment of support and collaboration which was recognized at the 2011 Shannon Grant Day on the Hill. Named after Senator Charles R Shannon Jr., the Shannon Grant provides resources to communities to implement a multi-disciplinary anti-gang strategy encompassing prevention, intervention, and suppression programs utilizing law enforcement, community-based organizations, and government agencies. The Everett Team works with probation, police and the District Attorney’s office to empower youth to make positive choices.

Alejandra, a 17 year old Club Member, spoke at the Legislative briefing, to a room full of Senators and Legislators – including Senate House Ways and Means Vice Chair, Stephen Brewer. She spoke about her life before and after joining the Club and how Club staff provided the opportunities and support that showed her brighter alternatives for her future.
