Reading Buddies

The JCC Youth Literacy Corps is a teen volunteer organization working alongside other community organizations to teach and mentor young children through reading. A collaboration of the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston and the Jewish Community Relations Council TELEM Teen Initiative, the Youth Literacy Corps partners with The Gene Mack Clubhouse, where we read aloud with members grades K-2, one day a week after school. Volunteers read with members usually with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio to help promote literacy and a love of reading. Members enjoy reading and look forward to seeing their buddy each week to continue where they left off.
