Time to Recognize Excellence
Uncategorized
On March 18, Boys & Girls Clubs staff member Dwayne
Brown was awarded the Youthie Award for excellence in Communication by
the BEST
Initiative. Brown, a Program Coordinator at the Everett Clubhouse,
is a popular member of the Everett staff. "It is
time to recognize Dwayne for his outstanding relationships with teens," said Phil Kolling, Everett Club Director,
who nominated Brown for the award. Kolling continued,
Dwayne Brown [received] a
Youthie because of his selfless dedication to all teens, but in
particular, his ability to communicate and form relationships with male
teens between 16 and 19 years old. The 16 to 19 male population can be
extremely hard to attract to after school programs, and once they are in
the building, they can be hard to retain. At any given point in time
one third of the teens in our club fit that demographic, and then enter
the Club early and stay late. I can attribute that directly to Dwayne's
presence.
He was awarded the Youthie Award after youth workers throughout New
England voted him the best example of excellence in communication. The
staff and members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County
congratulate Brown on his win!
