Career Launch

Through the Career Launch Program, Club staff provide opportunities for career exploration, job readiness, placement and career decision-making support to its members and the local community. MORE>



Clay Tech

Clay Tech is a form of stop motion animation that uses clay characters and props. The program provides Club members with the opportunity to explore animation, sculpting, visual literacy, and multimedia concepts while working in small, collaborative teams of kids their own age led by a teacher who will guide their exploration and discovery. Design Squad
This club is being funded by WGBH and is offered to our 5th graders. Two engineer volunteers/mentors will be facilitating this program where the members will be given a challenge, some supplies and asked to invent a solution. There is no wrong answer and creativity as well as independent working will be strongly encouraged. MORE>




Flat Stanley
Youth aged 6- 8 participate in a weekly session of Flat Stanley. By participating in a Flat Stanley project, children can enhance their literacy skills, make new friends and learn more about the world. MORE>



Goals for Graduation
Teen Goals for Graduation is designed to help youth develop short and mid term goals for education that can improve their performance and help them reach their long-term goal of high school graduation.  The program guides youth through the development, planning  and achievement of their goals. Junior Staff
The Junior Staff Career Development Program assists members aged 11 to 18 years in exploring a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. The program prepares youth for a leadership role as a human service professional or volunteer leader. MORE>


Power Hour
A comprehensive homework help and tutoring program for Boys & Girls Club youth aged 6 to 18 years, Power Hour: Making Minutes Count provides members with the support, resources and guidance necessary to complete their homework – and start the school day with a sense of confidence and ability. As members complete homework assignments and bonus activities, they accumulate Power Points, which may be used to obtain Power Rewards – prizes, activities and incentives. In addition, Power Hour offers tutoring assistance for members who need additional work in special areas. MORE>



Quirkles
Quirkles® were created to support the lack of hands-on, fun and interactive science programs that exist in public schools for a number or research based reasons. The Quirkles® are 26 imaginary scientists that help children everyday, all over the world, develop a love and appreciation for science. They offer a fresh new way to integrate literacy and science at BGCMC Clubhouses. MORE>

Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies is a collaboration between the Boys and Girls Clubs and Lexington High School student volunteers who are affiliated with the Greater Jewish Community Centers. MORE>



Axis/Sunflower
Sunflower and Axis are programs born out of a partnership between BGCMC and The Intercultural Center for Research in Education. Sunflower is a fully bilingual Spanish / English curriculum designed to encourage students to develop language skills and at the same time to turn their interest to the world of scientific discovery. Sign Language
This club is for members of all ages to learn about American Sign Language, the third most used language in the United States. It is a graceful, organic 4-dimensional language and an amazing tool for any future. MORE>



Time 2 Invent (Partnership with WGBH/PBS)
Time to Invent is a program partnership between BGCMC and the WGBH public television network. Clubhouse staff were trained to help youth work alongside mentors, professionals and/or students in the field of science, engineering, and technology, to explore teamwork, creative problem solving and how to use the design process to express and develop ideas. The Youth for Unity program is designed to help youth cultivate individuality, build cultural identity, and appreciate diversity. MORE>



YPP
The Young People’s Project seeks to inspire and motivate young people to want to investigate number by playing math games, which will build math confidence and encourage further learning.

Zoom Sci
BGCMC Staff members researched and presented activities from the popular PBS show Zoom’s educator web page. Clubhouse staff used their relationship building skills and knowledge of Clubhouse members interests and attributes to increase youths’ participation and attendance at the program.
